Solarmaster "Combo" Hot Water Systems

The Solarmaster Combo hot water cylinder was developed as a multiple use unit for use with Solar, Wetback and Electric  heating. All this while remaining to operate at "Mains Pressure".  All units are designed to operate at 500 KPA. This allows for both hot and cold water to be distributed at the same pressure. The main storage shell is manufactured from exceptionally high strength duplex stainless steel. Some of the additional features of the Solarmaster Combo are:

  • Can be setup in conjunction with either a gas or diesel fired boiler.
  • Generally suitable for use with all town supplies.
  • Can be manufactured specifically to meet a clients exact requirements.
  • Commercial cylinders are available in varying volumes and sizes up to 2-3 thousand litres.

Solarmax Pump/Sensor System (Cylinder is in the House)

These systems use a circulating pump to generate water flow within the system, which offers you not only a higher flow rate but a higher heat transfer as well, amounting to more efficient overall heating. They also allow you to have more control over where the panels are placed on your roof, including better flexibility with regard to pipe layout.

In more technical terms the pump/sensor system is fitted with a differential SolarStat and two temperature probes. One probe is located on the panel on the roof, the other is mounted in a pocket two thirds of the way up  the cylinder.  When the difference in temperature between the two probes reaches 12 degrees C, the pump is activated drawing cold water from the bottom of the cylinder pumping it up  through the panel on the roof, and back down to the middle of the cylinder. Once the difference in the probes is reduced to 6 degrees C the pump turns off. As a result a pump system is more efficient than a "thermosyphon" system (referred to below).

Solarmax Thermo-Syphon System (Cylinder in the Roof Space)

Normally installed in high-pitched roofs where the storage cylinder is mounted inside the highest point of the roof, and the Solar panels are located outside on the roof at a lower level.

No circulation pump is required as the system functions by natural convection of thermal currents drawing cold water down from the cylinder to the bottom of the panel by gravity, then heating the water in the panel by the suns rays. As the water heats up, it returns by convection to the cylinder where it rises to the top (of the cylinder) ready for use. An Alphstat SolarStat is ideal for this system.

Solarmax Exporter Model (Panel and Cylinder Attached, Situated on Roof)

The Exporter Model Solar system is a thermo-syphon unit with electrical backup. The "SolarMax" Exporter Model comes as a complete unit, ready to install, including cylinder, solar panel, cyclone brackets and complete installation kitset. The main benefit of this system is the ease of installation, and is ideal for markets like the Pacific Islands.
